ORDER OF OUISSAM ALAOUIT

This Order was established in 1913 by Sultan Youssef and is the Dynastic Order of the Royal Family of Morocco, and is awarded at the discretion of His Majesty the King.

Classes -  Grand Cordon

                Grand Officier

                Commandeur

                Officier

               Chevalier

The numbers of each class awarded are limited as follows: -

Grand Cordon          40

Grand Officier          80

Commandeur           400

Officier                    1,500

Chevalier                 3,000

The Grand Cordon is only awarded to members of the Moroccan Royal Family. The lower classes are conferred for Distinguished Service to the Throne in any capacity and have been awarded to a number of Diplomats and Officers.

This is Morocco's most famous Order and has been in existence for over eighty years. It was the most frequently bestowed until the advent of a range of Orders established by King Mohammed V in 1955.

Badge - Five pointed, gold rimmed, red bordered white enamel star, each point tipped with a gold ball. Between each point of the star are green enamel leaves. The centre is red and is inscribed, "HIS MAJESTY YOUSSEF", in Arabic. On the reverse is a red enamel Cherifen Umbrella. The suspension is in the form of a Gold Wreath.

Ribbon - Orange with a white stripe towards each edge.

VIP recipients - HRH Prince Khaled bin Sultan Abdul Aziz, awarded the Officier.
