ORDER OF THE LION

This is Senegal's premier Order and was founded by President Leopold Sedar Senghor in 1960.

Classes ‑ Grand Croix

Grand Officier

Commandeur

Officier

Chevalier

It is restricted to Heads of State, and high dignitaries and is awarded for outstanding distinguished service to Senegal.

Badge ‑ Five pointed white enamelled Star with rayed fans positioned in each angle. A lion and star are portrayed in the central gold disc. The suspension is in the form of a crossed leaf.

Star ‑ Similar to the badge but minus the fans. With the whole being overlaid on to a silver multi­rayed star.

Ribbon ‑ Green moiré.

How to wear ‑ The Badge is pinned onto the upper left breast with the Star underneath.

VIP recipients ‑ HRH Prince Khalid bin Sultan Abdul Aziz, awarded the Grand Officier.
