QATAR

ORDER OF INDEPENDENCE

Qatar's premier Order and was established by the Amir, Sheikh Khalifa, in 1974.

Those eligible are Qatari Nationals and Foreigners of renown for their ability and dedication of service to Qatar, the Arabs or to humanity.

Classes ‑ Grand Collar

                Grand Sash

Badge ‑ A ten pointed, pierced Arabesque design in Gold being suspended from a Fleur de        Lys emblem which is surmounted by a pearl. The centre disc ncorporates the National Emblem of Qatar, a dhow and palm tree above two crossed swords. Around this design is the inscription, "THE STATE OF QATAR ‑ SASH OF INDEPENDENCE", in Arabic.

Star ‑ Similar to the badge being overlaid onto a ten pointed multi‑rayed gold star.

Ribbon ‑ Claret edged with two green stripes and one white stripe.

How to wear ‑ The Badge is attached to the bow of the Sash which is worn over the right shoulder. The Star is pinned onto the left breast.

VIP recipients ‑  HRH Prince Khalid bin Sultan Abdul Aziz, awarded the Grand Sash.
